Having natural hair is a very time consuming task. Washing it alone can take up to an hour and with the cold weather right around the corner it’s time to think about protective styling!
Protective styling is one of the best ways to care for your natural hair in general and help it stay moisturized during the colder months. But what are the best protective styles to wear? This is something I have asked myself throughout my natural hair journey so I wanted to share some of my favorite protective styles with you guys!
From blond and curly to kinky straight, I’ve tried them all! The thing I love about wigs is that they are easy and stress free. After you slay your part you are good to go! Wigs that require minimal to no effort to style are the best kind. Try a loose wave or curly style that will look good without needing to add heat!
Hands down crochet braids are my favorite protective style. There are literally an infinite amount of options when it comes to crochet braids and they are so easy to install and remove. Even when they are in, it is still easy to access your hair to make sure it stays moisturized while they are in. And the best part, THEY ARE CHEAP! No install should be more than $40 and if you take care of them you can reinstall the same hair if you want to.
A neat trick is to take out the front ones when your braids start getting frizzy, use some hair gel to slick them back down then reinstall the same braids. This will make the style last longer without actually having to take them all down.
What are some of your favorite protective styles for the winter? I plan to rock crochet braids for this colder weather. How about you?
